Activity 2.0: “Your Turn To Shine!”

And yes, this will be our second activity entry for this day! Horay!

So, we are asked by our “beloved” subject teacher to answer some questions regarding our experiences here in wordpress (or beside wordpress), probably BLOGGING to sum up it all.

This activity actually made us, the editors, look back from when we just started blogging. It was not easy since we are new to this field, yet, look where we are now! Anyways so much for the talk, I’ll need to start now!

ACCOUNTABILITY GROUP 1, THIS IS YOUR TURN TO SHINE!

Question #1.

“What are other blogging platforms besides WordPress that piqued your interest? Why?”

We haven’t used or tried that much blogging platforms, really, but here are some of the ones we happened to used or came accross:

Blogger ㅡ this platform offers a quick and easy way to create a blog for non-tech-savvy users. It is actually easy to use and manage even you don’t have any technical skills. It also assure you platform security and realiability.

Squarespace ㅡ It focuses on small business owners who are looking for an easy way to create an online presence. It also has beautiful designed templates. Squarespace might not free but it can assure that you can afford it.

Weebly ㅡ it is easy-to-use drag and drop website builder with no technical skills required (like blogger) and also can easily and quick setup. Unlike squarespace, weebly allows you to try the website before buying it.

Question #2.

“What basic principles of design did you follow to your blog layout? Explain?”

We used PICTORI for our layout. We do believe that simplicity is better, we didn’t put too much fonts and designs because it might distract the people from looking it and it takes much time. And also people might defined it dirty, so we use plenty of white space. We didnt fill every possible space with banners, messages or whatever else. The more breathing room there is, the easier it is to consume the information we produce. The less styles the more cleaner.

We made sure that it’s possible to clearly understand what our blog is about and who’s it for. The better you build a connection between your reader and your blog, the higher the chances they will stick around. The fixations go in order from left to right. That’s where we place the most important information.

People usually based on the content of the blog and also how you designed it. If somebody knows you well, they don’t care about your looks that much. If they see you for the first time, looks matter a lot. The content of your blog is always more important than the design, but you need to impress people with your design first. We draw them in with our design, and keep with content.

Question # 3.

“Besides WordPress and Piktochart, What are the other cloud computing software you have used so far?”

Apple (Icloud) storage and Google Drive, this cloud softwares are really accessable and easy to use!
